Oracle Sunday: Find your tribe

It doesn’t matter how big or small your community is. What matters is that you have one.

If you’re not happy with yours, now is the time to put your energy and intention toward creating the right one for you.

It’s wonderful to be clear about the kind of friends, co-workers or business partners you’d love to have in your life. It’s even more wonderful to BE that friend, co-worker or business partner for others.

If you want more meaningful conversations, be willing to start one. If you’d like more mail in your mailbox (real mail is so exciting!), put pen to paper and write a letter to someone. If you’d like a few more social invitations, go out on a limb and extend one.

My neighbor mentioned today how lonely and sad she was when she moved to the lane because no one would talk to her. Out on the beach one sunset, she ran into another woman and reached out to start a conversation. A half hour later a friendship had started. While they didn’t become BFF’s, she broke the ice and the dynamics on the street began to shift for her.

You won’t likely end up with your new community over night, but baby steps add up. Just make sure you’re spending time with people whose energy is in line with yours. Don’t allow yourself to get pulled into catty, gossiping or unkind conversations because you’re lonely.

If you’ve already got people in your life who lift you up and support you in following your dreams, don’t take them for granted. Let them know how much you appreciate them. Continue to strengthen those bonds. They are more valuable than gold.

This card indicates that the universe is sending (even more) good people your way. Keep your eyes and heart open so you recognize them when they come.

Oracle Sunday: The difference is in the details

My husband’s family is in town this week and we’ve rented two homes in a nearby beach community to accommodate all of us. While both houses are beautiful and in lovely locations, they feel different for reasons that all come down to details.

One homeowner communicated clearly, kindly and well in advance of our arrival date. The second homeowner was unresponsive and abrupt. Though each house is beautiful in its own way, we arrived with distinct feelings about both and there was already talk of the different reviews they’ll receive online afterward.

I’ve stayed in a number of rentals through Airbnb or VRBO and it’s interesting to notice how much care and thought owners put into making their guests comfortable. Little details like having necessities in the pantry, propane for the grill, and notes explaining how things work, make a big difference.

The same holds true for business transactions, dining out, or deepening friendships.

We notice the details.

Stressing and obsessing over them can be crazy-making (just ask any bride-to-be). That’s not what this card is about. Instead it’s a reminder to pay attention and be thoughtful, clear and heartfelt with little touches that feel important to you.

A handwritten note.
A small gift, just because, with no expectation of anything in return.
Remembering an important date, or a customer’s name.

This card also wants you to pay attention to the details that you’re presented with. Body language. Statements made under someone’s breath. The restaurant owner who comes over to talk with you and brings something special for you to try. These things speak volumes.

Pay attention to details this week. Let yourself focus on them, enjoy them, be clear about them. If you’re signing anything legal, read the fine print. If you’re working on a project, get specific about the little things for a while.

Spend some time thinking about another person’s experience of who you are or what you offer.

There’s magic and power there.

Oracle Sunday: You are a treasure

This card is here to remind you that YOU are the treasure and that ultimately you are safe and divinely protected.

The question to ask yourself is: Am I trusting too easily or have I built an impenetrable fortress out of fear?

If neither of those feels true and you know, deep in your bones, that all is well (no matter what happens) then your treasure is being well protected. Move forward confidently with the grace that this knowledge provides.

If you find yourself trusting others too quickly and repeatedly being hurt, then this card wants you to know it is time to take your power back. Don’t trade your soul for an illusion of safety.

If there is an unequal power dynamic in a number of your relationships, it would be wise to examine that. Start by privately and quietly tuning into what really matters to you. When you feel ready, take a baby step toward the relationships you want – those with integrity and equal give and take.

If this feels overwhelming to do on your own, find a trusted mentor, hire a life coach or therapist, or seek out the resources that speak to you. (This might be one).

If you’ve isolated yourself out of fear of being hurt, your treasure is being overprotected and needs room to breathe. Like a frustrated child whose parent won’t let her do anything for herself, your inner light needs air and the spark of connection to shine.

Practice sharing little bits of yourself with others – small stories from your life, an ache, a dream. Listen to your inner voice and let it guide you out of your comfort zone. Start small and let yourself see just how safe you are. It might feel risky but you have a courageous heart. Let it speak.

Remember always that you are a treasure to be cherished and valued. Allow only those who see that into your life.
