I’m on the tail end of almost three weeks of traveling and big events. My newly-minted 8 year old goes back to school next Wednesday. I’m playing catch up, looking forward to a return to routine and I’m also feeling like summer isn’t supposed to be over yet.
My soul is craving quiet, space, rest. I know it’s time to head back to the basics of my self-care and spiritual practices. More sleep. Healthy food. Deep breaths. Meditation. Journaling. Moving inward. Consciously connecting with my wisest self. These are what sustain me and I tend to let them slide when I’m on the road.
I’m heading out to the beach right now with my journal and some work, so that I can feel both connected and productive. It’s time to refill my inner well so I have the stamina to carry me through a busy fall.
What basic self-care moves do you need to return to this week? Share them in the comments so we can cheer each other on.
P.S. This week’s Create Your Magical Life podcast is an interview with my amazing friend Liz Lamoreux. We talk about building a bridge between where you are and where you want to be, by making one small move every day.
She shares some wonderfully specific tips and ideas too. One listener commented on Facebook that the energy of the conversation was helping her take direct action in her life, ten minutes in! You can listen here: Create Your Magical Life with Liz Lamoreux

I’ve been thinking of quitting my blog and starting a good ‘ol journal. Can you recommend it? I’m not sure paper works – the kind of “silent” reflecting without response… On the other hand, I crave silence and I know I’d benefit from it enormously. School starts here on Monday, and indeed, if only summer break could last longer!
Love,
R.
